Mailruem

Project 

Mailruem is an single-player adventure game where you play as Rue, a mail delivery alien, trying to connect with the citizens of Arid by delivering mail, and outcompete the Automated Mailroom to restore humanity on the planet. The game relies on its creative environments, wholesome storytelling, and addicting gameplay to create an experience out of this world!

My Work

I worked on Mailruem as a Game Director. I collaborated with all departments as I oversaw the project with my Co-lead, who focused on art. My main tasks were: 

Creation

Concept
  • My Co-leader and I coming up with the overall concept.

  • Establishing a baseline idea for each department to build off.

Vision
  • Ensuring that our vision for the game got across clearly.

  • Developing pitches and promos to get others onto our team.

Project Managing

Project Scope and Task Supervision
  • Organizing goals and tasks using Trello.

  • Giving assignments out to programmers.

  • Ensuring that deadlines were met by hosting check-in meetings.

Directing
  • Assisting with each department to make sure their work aligned with the concept.

  • Taking over when team members fell through and reassessing.

  • Encouraging and nurturing input of creative ideas from the team.

Game Tech

Leading
  • Hosting a GitHub for programmers.

  • ​Polishing the flow of gameplay and mechanics.

  • Scoping elements and gameplay when needed.

Finalization
  • Implementing every departments work into the game.

  • ​Combining all code from programmers.

  • Putting the game together.
