Xolo & the Forgotten Gods

Project 

Embark on an exhilarating journey in Xolo (Sho-lo), an action-adventure game where a fearless dog gains powerful shapeshifting abilities in order to rescue his best friend. With the influence of the amulet, challenge crooked Spanish conquistadors and their sinister allies to save your land and its people.

Xolo & the Forgotten Gods was shown at the GDC 2025 in a SCAD booth.

My Work

I worked on Xolo as a Lead Narrative Designer. After 6 months of development, our game's Demo is ready! I collaborated with multiple departments to develop the narrative. My main tasks so far were: 

Narrative Design

Story Organization and Consistency
  • Keeping story documents organized and concise. 

  • Assisted with the creation and upkeep of the Game Design Master Doc.

  • Establishing consistency in the story and informing other departments.

Historical Research and Creative Liberties
  • Ensuring that through historical research, cultures were properly credited and represented.

  • Working with a historical consultant to enrich the story and the world.

  • ​Crafting a fun creative world that explores the aspects of a culture.

Narrative and Worldbuilding
  • Creating dialogue and NPCs that will fill the world and expand upon the overarching story.

  • Providing background and personalities to the main characters and enemies.

  • Infusing the game with narrative aspects that make the world feel alive.

Programming

Story Implementation 
  • ​Constructing cutscenes using cinematic sequences.

  • Setting up UI assets to function or move.

  • Organizing UI asset placements throughout the game.
